The “frailejon” is a subshrub from high altitude that mainly grows in the páramo ecosystems. It has long hairy-like leaves, very thick trunks and they can grow up to 23 ft high. It is known for its capacity to absorb water from air’s moisture through its leaves and storing it in it’s trunk.
